Tom's Dinner
It was 6 o'clock in the afternoon. Tom was back home from school. He was hungry. He went into the kitchen to look for food. He could not find any cooked food. But he saw a lot of uncooked food.
He wanted to cook food for his parents. He thought about cooking like a chef. He started cooking a lot of food. He left all the cooked food on the table in the sitting room.
When his parents came home, they were surprised to see the food. They had the food for dinner together but the food tasted bad. Tom felt sorry about it, but his parents said that he got the experience and he could cook better next time.

Luxury Mooncakes奢華
The giving of presents is an age-old tradition in China. Giving mooncakes to relatives and friends as a symbol of their love, concern and friendship is very common during the Mid-Autumn Festival. However, mainlanders now seem to be giving mooncakes worth thousands of dollars or even replacing edible mooncakes with gold, silver and gems of a similar shape. Is this kind of “mooncake” merely to show respect for the recipient?
Mooncake packaging waste on an individual basis seems unimportant (insignificant) but it accounts for 20 percent of the total waste on the mainland, according to China Sina News. It is estimated that it requires 400 to 600 trees with a diameter of 10 centimetres or above to produce 10 million mooncake boxes.
To address this problem, a law came into effect in June this year to limit the cost of mooncake packaging to less than 25 percent of the cakes’ cost. The volume of packaging is also required to be 35 percent of the total volume of pastry.
But stiff regulations are no match for people’s creativity. Some manufacturers are now producing mooncake-shaped gold, silver and gems as luxury gifts. One such “golden mooncake” sells for 30000 renminbi.

Liza's grandmother is eighty-five years old. She is still heathy and strong. When asked how she keeps herself fit, she says that she sleeps seven hours a day. She always takes a short nap in the afternoon. She never sits still. In fact, she is always busy doing something in the house.
This grandmother of eight children and thirty grandchildren still goes for a walk in the evening. She may even out walk many people of younger age. She does not overeat. Her usual diet is rice, fish, and vegetables. She seldom eats anything that has too much sugar in it. She says that it is not good for health.
My grandmother is seventy years old. She is still healthy but not very strong. She is good at knitting. When asked how she knits so well, she says she knits nearly everyday. She always knits for her grand children. She never sits still. In fact, she is always busy knitting.
My grandmother has one son and two grandchildren. She stays at home most of the time. She is not an out going person. Although she has a lot of friends, she does not meet her friends very often. She prefers playing Mahjong games on the home computer to going out playing the Mahjong games with her neighboring friends.

A Visit to Stanley
It was a sunny day. The visit to Stanley started after we met our teacher at school at 8 o'clock in the morning. We met at the entrance where the school bus was nearby.
We all wore PE uniform, sports shoes and a cap. We also brought some water and small amount of money for lunch. The bus left school at a quarter past eight.
In about forty minutes, we arrived at the Stanley Main Street and took some photos there. We then interviewed some visitors at the Stanley Market. The interview went well.
We then had a barbecue lunch on Stanley Main Beach for about two and a half hours. We then visited Murray House to see ancient and modern ship. We also played a computer game to control a modern ship. We had a lot of fun.
We left Stanley at a quarter to four and arrived school at half past four. It was a very happy day.

Book Report - The Gingerbread Boy
Summary of the Story
The book is about a gingerbread boy. He was cooked by a little woman but ran away from her. On his way out, he met a little man, a cow, a horse, and a fox.
All of them would like to have him eaten. But the clever fox got him onto his tail to cross a river. While they were in the middle of the river, the fox made the boy move from his tail to his back then to his nose. At last, while the gingerbread boy got onto the fox's nose. He was eaten.
Poor gingerbread Boy!
I like the story because it is simple but very funny.

Mission Hills Golf Summer Course
Mission Hills Golf Summer Course
I joined the summer training course organised by the Mission Hills Golf Club from 10 to 14 August, 2009. I really enjoyed the course. I made some good friends by joining the course. They are Isabel, Joyce, and Anson. We played golf and tennis together. We also swam every day.
There was a speical event happened during the course. We forgot to bring our keys to hotel room when we went out to buy some snacks. We were a bit worried that we might not be able to get back to our room. We were lucky that we could find someone to open the door for us at the end.
I am happy to join the course. I can now play golf and tennis better than before.

When Billy opened his eyes widely, he looked like an owl. So, his mom called him, "little owl, " but not Billy.
